Today’s Friday Finds was the coolest experience! We ventured out to Boone, Iowa to check out the brand-new @railexplorersusa experience on the Boone Scenic Valley Railroad. This was unlike anything I have ever done before. As riders you travel in an open pedal powered rail car and get to enjoy 360-degree views of gorgeous scenery on the Iowa railway. One of the most jaw dropping moments was riding over the 156-foot-high Bass Point Creek High Trestle bridge.
This experience was so fun! You are allowed to bring with snacks and drinks (alcoholic included!) so pack a picnic before you go! The experience takes a couple of hours, with a short break at the halfway point where you get to enjoy views of the Des Moines river while they turn the cars around. Rides occur through the end of October and are pretty much sold out but don’t fret, the Rail Explorers have committed to 5 years at this Boone location and will be back in the spring so be sure to sign up as soon as their schedule opens next year!
